BIOGRAPHY

Jez is an unsigned English singer-songwriter living in Manchester. Blending political defiance and a pop-rock sensibility with metal, blues and folk influences Jez is fast becoming known for catchy rock tracks that pull no punches.

Born and raised in the Yorkshire countryside to a musical family, Jez finally caught the Rock & Roll bug after hearing Bon Jovi's 'It's My Life' on local radio at the ripe old age of 10. Quickly diving down the rabbit hole he started discovering the influences that would shape his own music as far apart as Poison and Bob Dylan; Judas Priest and Lynyrd Skynyrd; Tom Lehrer and Tom Petty; Flanders & Swann and Slayer... 'box' was irrelevant - if it sounded great and interesting, and had a message to tell, it found a playlist. He started learning to write lyrics imitating the songs he loved before eventually picking up his Mum's old Spanish guitar and crafting out his own identity.

Between 2007 and 2012 he attended the Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford, studying vocal performance and music business, with contemporaries including Matt Healy of The 1975. During this time Jez had songs exhibited in London's Brick Lane Gallery as part of G-Tech's 'Driven Creativity Awards' and received multiple semi-final awards in the highly regarded UK Songwriting Contest.

A break from earnest writing and recording followed as he spent the next years travelling - with stints living in Australia, New Zealand and Germany - before returning to the UK, settling in Manchester and getting back into writing and recording. The result of which would become DEAD GODS & DEMAGOGUES.

DEAD GODS & DEMAGOGUES was recorded, performed and produced by Jez throughout 2020 and early 2021 in his spare bedroom (in this case NOT a euphemism for multimillion pound recording studio...) before being mastered by respected indie engineer Pete Maher (U2, PIXIES, BEADY EYE.)  DEAD GODS & DEMAGOGUES will be released worldwide on the 20th of August.
